The Expert Council for tourist-and-recreational special economic zones (SEZ) included in the North Caucasian tourist cluster approved the application by the first resident of Elbrus ATRC in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic. This was a local company Elbrus Adventur that has been specializing in rendering services to tourists for many years already. A meeting of the Expert Council for SEZ was held today in the Ministry of the North Caucasus Affairs of the Russian Federation
The new resident intends to invest about RUB 10 million in extension of its current activities on the resort site and improvement of the level of service. Inter alia, information services shall be provided to tourists in the tourist information center on Azau meadow, mountain ski and snowboarding training services shall be provided within the school of professional mountain ski instructors, an outlet and a mountain ski and climbing gear rental shall be arranged. In addition, Elbrus Adventur LLC shall provide operation of training park Saby Park, arrange climbing to the summit of Elbrus mountain, trekking routes and tours, and accommodation in high-mountain shelter LeapRus.
‘Elbrus Special Economic Zone is the growth point for the entire North Caucasus Tourist Cluster. That is why development of the resort is under special control of the Ministry of the North Caucasus Affairs of the Russian Federation,’ Odes Baysultanov, First Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for North Caucasus Affairs - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Joint-Stock Company Northern Caucasus Resorts, who headed the Expert Council, noted.  ‘We should not only participate in resolving current problems, i.e. with land arrangement, disaster recovery, etc. It is important to create conditions as to increase the number of people developing territories of the North Caucasus. These were not just civil servants and large business, but also local entrepreneurs. The SEZ resident status helps us to create such conditions, and I am glad to welcome the first representative of the regional business that became a partner of the management company, represented by NCR JSC on the site of Elbrus resort,’ he concluded.
