Cableway on Mount Elbrus is included into the Russian Record Book

Stage 3 of the cable lift from the Mir Station to the Gara Bashi Station on Mount Elbrus built by Joint-Stock Company Northern Caucasus Resorts  in 2015 and commissioned on December 27, 2015, was included into the Russian Record Book as the highest cable lift in Russia. The record height was recorded at the mark of 3,847 meters (12,621 feet) where the upper station of the passenger lift is located and the high-mountain skiing area begins.

‘We are really proud of this record — it was the result of hard work performed by JSC NCR and contractors’ professionals in difficult high mountain conditions. The construction machinery that delivered the cableway equipment had to literally climb the steep slopes of Mount Elbrus. Experienced high-riggers were responsible for installation of roller balance beams at the cablelift supports,” commented Oleg Gorchev, Director General of the Northern Caucasus Resorts company. ‘The technically complex and labor-intensive construction and startup process was implemented  on a tight schedule, within less than a year. I think that, after the Russian Record Book, Mount Elbrus cable lift will be included into other prestigious lists of “super” facilities - it is not in vain that the cablelift construction was carried out under the slogan “Europe does not build higher buildings!” he said.

Over RUB 1 billion was invested in construction of Stage 3 of the cable lift, development and extension of the skiing area in Mount Elbrus by JSC NCR in 2015. So far, the Company has begun drafting of the comprehensive city construction documents for Elbrus ATRC
